  1. The three idiots synopsis is all about who will succeed after years and the friendship last forever. As their story is framed as intermittent flashbacks from the present day, ten years after Chatur bet that he’d become more successful than Rancho. Having lost contact with Rancho, who disappeared during the graduation party and went into seclusion, after five years, Raju and Farhan begin a journey to find him. They are joined by Chatur, now a wealthy and successful professional in the USA, who is looking to seal a deal with a famous scientist and prospective business associate named Phunsukh Wangdu. When they find Rancho’s house in Shimla, they find a completely different man: the real Rancho (Jaaved Jaffrey).

From him, they come to know that their friend was a destitute servant boy “Chhote” who loved learning, while he, the real Rancho, disliked study. After seeing the boy’s intelligence, the family agreed to let the servant boy study in Rancho’s place instead of laboring. In return, the real Rancho would pocket his qualifications and after graduating, the servant boy will cease all contact. The real Rancho reveals that Chhote is now a schoolteacher in Ladakh. At the same time, they find out that, without Rancho, Pia decided to marry the same price-obsessed banker that Rancho initially talked her into dumping, and they go to rescue her from the wedding.

Raju and Farhan find Pia and arrive at Rancho’s school. Pia and the fake Rancho rekindle their love, while Chatur mocks Rancho for becoming a lowly schoolteacher. He asks Rancho to sign a “Declaration of Defeat” document. When Rancho’s friends ask what his real name is, he reveals that he is actually Phunsukh Wangdu himself. Chatur finds out about this and is horrified; he accepts his defeat and pleads his case with Phunsukh to establish the business relationship he was after.

  2. 3 Idiots: Reflection

Rancchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad “Rancho”, Farhan Qureshi and Raju Rastogi are the main characters in the film. They build their friendship at Imperial College of Engineering, in India. They become classmates and roommates. Farhan, was forced to pursue to become an engineer because of his parent’s dream, but his talent is in wildlife photography. While Raju was poor who strives to become engineer for the sake of his family; and Rancho, a naughty student but intelligent, studies engineering for his passion of machines, electronics and devices. Rancho is a great person, a great friend, a great leader , a great student and great teacher as well. He has a different approach in learning, which leads to conflict with his college director Viru“Virus” Shahastrabuddhe. Rancho criticizes his professor’s style of teaching for lacking of understanding and excitement in discussing their lessons; and this leads to their conflicts. Rancho falls in love with Virus’s daughter, name Pia. She is captivated by unique personality of Rancho. A typical student Chatur “Silencer” Ramalingam, favorite students of “virus”, believes that memorizing of understanding is a best way to be a successful even without passion in his doings. Chatur made a funny speech in front of many teachers and students in their school event and Chatur discovered it was Rancho’s prank. He was very angry that he challenged Rancho that after 10 years they will meet again at the same date September 5; and that he will be successful than Rancho. After a Year they finally met again. At the end Rancho was richer than Chatur.

The 3 Idiots movie is highly recommended to watch by everyone especially by educators and learners which will surely give inspiration and knowledge about the importance of passion in teaching and learning system. The movie showed the difference between the traditional and modern education. It also serves as inspiration in building true friendship, leadership, fulfillment of dreams and building family relationship. The importance of embracing your talent and passion on what you do is one of a lesson I learned in this movie “Pursue excellence, and success will follow” Rancho said. This is a long movie but it is worthwhile for you and the whole family. I learned that the highest form of knowledge is through application in real world situation, like what showed in the part were Mona, daughter of virus had emergency child delivery during storm and no choice but to use a vacuum to save the child and mother’s life. In that moment Virus finally saw what Rancho wanted him to see, that knowledge and skills cannot be measure only by memorization and high academic grades but it is how we will apply it in a real world situation.

  3. The movie Three Idiots is such a hilarious one and I really was roaring with laughter while watching it. However, I find it fantastic as well as it presents real life situations such as issues of the educational system and varied perspective of people about success.

People, especially parents and school system as well hype so much on the grades that they tend to forget the real value of education, which is learning. Most of the time, it’s not your high grades or academic achievements but how street smart you are in dealing with real life scenarios and your perseverance that will bring you to success.
I agree that it is important that people find their passion first and allow themselves to grow and success is sure to follow.

  4. I strongly agree that we must always value excellence than just to always merely succeed. I learned from this movie that we must holistically develop ourselves or other people so that we can equip them skills on how to survive the real world.

I also learned from this movie that we must pursue our passion and do it without the fear of failing. We must always strive to think out of the box on how to contribute to the society and be a role model to the youth.

The movie teaches never try to be successful but pursue excellence. Passion leads to excellence. If you like what you do success will follow. Never stop learning and live every moment to the fullest as if today is the last day.

Some education system put pressure on student which is not healthy. It even sometimes costs life. Study with heart, not just for grades and study to be accomplished not affluent. Indeed, learning should be exciting and inspiring. We learn not just in classrooms, but also through seminars, books, interviews, movies, etc. It is therefore important to be cheerful and not get stressed at anything. Workloads will always get in way, but take the work lightly and find enjoyment and pleasure in everything.

  7. Q. Please watch the movie, "Three Idiots". Write your personal reflections on the said movie.

    A. Three Idiots is about friendship, hardship and success. Raju, Farhan and Rancho are the main characters of the movie, they are all enrolled in the Imperial College of Engineering, in India. They are classmates and roommates. This three become really good friends and they are always together in good times and in bad times. In the start of the movie farhan and Raju is loking for Rancho, because after they graduated in college they didn't see Rancho anymore. But then even though they didn't see Rancho for a long time they are still excited to see each other again. For me that is the meaning of friendship, even though you are miles apart as long as you believe that your friendship will last forever , it really do come true.
Hardship - in our life we are always experience failures and hardship, but then in this movie I realize that trials will make you stronger and it will make you a better person. A person who is capable of making a difference.
Success - For me to be successful in life you need to be strong, healthy and happy. Strong to face all the trials that will run into your life. Healthy body and mind to overcome these challenges and to make sure that you are in good shape in facing all the people who are always there to push you to success. Happy, make sure that everything you do you always put your heart and efforts on it. Make sure that you enjoy what you do, because when you are happy all the people around you will become happy and all the things that you do will always be at its best.

  8. Three idiots is a comedy of ideas that is as provocative as it is funny, as wildly entering as it it insighful. A laugh-riot that talks about the most important of human pursuits; self-actualization.
And I believe that Passion Leads To Excellence When your hobby becomes your profession and passion becomes your profession. You will be able to lead up to excellence in the life. Satisfaction, pleasure, joy and love will be the outcome of following passion. Following your passion for years, you will surely become something one day.

  9. I liked the movie. It is quite funny. I would recommend you to watch it if you haven't already.
Time and again, I've seen people believing in messages movies deliver. If you aren't able to properly judge the message you're at a loss. Just don't believe in what you would like to believe. In my view, the sole responsibility of a movie is to entertain people and not to deliver any messages. The concept of the movie might try to push some idea to the masses. Such messages shouldn't be blindly believed.
If you think, our education system must drastically change, I would like to bring to your notice a lot of other things that needs to be drastically changed. Our political system, work culture, society and so many other things require a drastic change. You name it. Nothing is perfect. Then again, there's no point simply bitching about broken systems.
As far as I know, people who topped the charts didn't just mug up things. They understood the concepts. They knew what they were doing. Here and there you could notice some students getting good grades just by mugging up certain things.
There are of course certain things that need to be changed in a typical engineering course. For instance, in programming exam, the computer science students are asked to write, compile and run one of the thirty programs they studied the whole semester. What's the point if the programs don't change in the exams?
What's the value of such degrees? Absolutely nothing. When I hire a programmer for my company, I don't really care if the candidate has a degree certificate, unless they come from institutes like IIT. The college shown in the movie is comparable to IITs? I talk to the candidate, ask questions related to the job, give them problems to solve and evaluate their candidacy for the job.
I don't see a huge problem in the college shown in the movie. The students that suffered were those that didn't like what they are doing.
"And all of a sudden, here comes a movie, which completely ridicules our education system and paints a rather incorrect and drastically over exaggerated picture, and the so called educated young crowd, adores it and playing along with the theme, as if to ascertain the facts."
It depends how you see it. If you ask me, the movie doesn't ridicule the Indian education system. The movie is about an ideal student who is supposed to be smarter than everyone else including his professors.
I defend Winston Churchill's statement - "A man’s got to do what a man’s got to do". If you try to pursue a career in what you do best, opportunities are abundant. But there's no guarantee. The argument holds good for engineering too. If you pass out and get an engineering degree, there's no guarantee you will get a lucrative job. Let's leave the edge cases out of equation for now.

  11. Please watch the movie, "Three Idiots". Write your personal reflections on the said movie.

3 Idiots is a story of true friendship, leadership and fulfillment of dreams. The film, though undeniably funny, witty and very much entertaining, depicts that life at engineering colleges is not fun; they have to deal with some serious problems including struggle to get good grades, ragging and mental pressure that forces a student to commit suicide.

It has made me realize a lot of things.Going to school is not about passing the exam, getting the certificate and going to next level and finally landing up in a job. It is about learning.

Rancho’s dialogues are motivating. “There is lot of knowledge flowing around us. Don’t miss it; grab it from wherever you get it,” he says. Every dialogue in this movie is a motivational quote that may guide us in all walks of life.

Telling ourselves “Aal is well” even when things are not so well does not solve the problem but worrying about it only makes it worse and gives us exaggerated pain. Raju is a victim of countless worries and therefore leaving himself with lesser energy to focus. After his suicide attempt he realizes Rancho’s ‘Aal is well’ wisdom. And his job interview shows us the magic of honesty and faith in ones self. When his two friends bring him the stolen paper, he throws it away and says, “I will pass if I can and fail if I must but do it respectably”.

“Go for excellence, success will follow you”, is the biggest message of the movie. Such abstract nouns are hard to explain, however the movies has boldly personified the two; Rancho illustrates excellence and Chatur success. The movie goes on to illustrate success running after excellence at the end.

  12. We all experience different kinds of stress on different level and with different coping mechanisms. That being said, we can never predict what is too much for someone. Just like in the movie, the students were put on constant pressure. They were pushed to their limits to achieve success and excellence by their professors, especially the principal. Though some really became great students and very successful individuals in the future, others became cynical and hopeless in the end. There is one part in the movie that the students can not take the pressure and rejection anymore that he committed suicide in the end. From there, we can conclude that the strategy used by the system through for greatness of the students does not always end on a good note.

  13. I find the movie very inspiring and motivating as an individual especially for me that the movie directs and leads me to a different perspective on how to deal with my studies and continue to learn from different aspects of life. There are words that caught my heart and mind like "Pursue excellence and success will follow. Very motivating words, where it implies that we must do our part by consistently work with passion, persistence, faith and leaving rest to God. Being successful doesn't really mean having a lot of money but the true essence of success is having what you have become in reaching your goals.
Another is ALL is Well, a very simple words but it encourages me to face every task, whether it is a problem or or not, tasks and problems which we considered as a learning tool, that without it, we would be grow and become what we become now. Another quote that caught my heart and mind is make your passion your profession, and work will become a game, where it teaches me to do things that my heart is yearning for, to follow my true passion, to chase what I really want for my life without others to decide and interfere.
The movie teaches me to in order to chase my dreams always have faith and God be the center. Moreover, the movie teaches me that we only live once, that trials, problems or even the worst one, we must not give in and surrender. We must continue to live with faith and always remember that All is Well. The movie also inspires me to see that life is beautiful, everyday is another life, a chance for me to live life to the fullest.

  14. It’s all about following your dreams, love, friendship and importance of education. Rancho, is a smart person and he study at Imperial College of Engineering(ICE) and there he met Fahran and Raju. Fahran wants to be a wildlife photographer but he studies engineering to pusue his father’s wish. Raju studies to raise his family’s fortune while Rancho has a passion on machines.

They are many scene that impress me, for example, the professor(which they call him “Virus”) ordered Rancho to teach his fellow classmates. He wrote two words on the blackboard and let all his classmates including the professor to find its meaning but they never got the answer. In fact it doesn’t exist. Rancho emphasized that students should study in the reason that they are interested on something fresh. If you have a passion on something go for it and never let anyone gets on your way and just folow your dreams.

They are so many scene in the movie but I will never make this longer.

I’ve learned that we should follow our dreams. The movie is meaningful. It teaches people to study for yourself and never lose passion in lives. Think first before you go on a situation that can ruined your life and even to your family.

    “AAL IZZ WELL ..”

  15. "following your dreams is as important as achieving your goals in life"
the movie implies that in order for one to enjoy his education it has to be something that interests him. something that he enjoys doing. not because somebody told him to do so or that is what the system dictates him to do.

as a student i my self had a fair share of stress, deadlines, exams, etc but i learned that all these are all necessary in order for me to reach my goals in life i have taken the course that i love and there i found out that i wasn't just learning i am enjoying as well.

its never too late to follow your dreams just trust in your self and seek the guidance of the Lord and you will succeed and remember to say this to your self one day

"i have no regrets because i pursued my dream and now i am fulfilled"

  16. One movie all rolled into One, Friendship, Education, Drama and Comedy that is the THREE IDIOTS.

I have been inspired by some lines from the Movie like," Don't chase Success, Let Success chase you" and "Make your passion your Profession". It teaches us how to DREAM , BELIEVE and SURVIVE.

    SYNOPSIS (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1187043/synopsis)
Farhan Qureshi (R. Madhavan), Raju Rastogi (Sharman Joshi), and Rancchoddas "Rancho" Shyamaldas Chanchad (Aamir Khan) are three engineering students who share a room in a hostel at the Imperial College of Engineering, one of the best colleges in India. While Farhan and Raju are average students from modest backgrounds, Rancho is from a rich family. Farhan wants to become a wildlife photographer, but has joined engineering college to fulfil his father's wish. Raju on the other hand wants to uplift his family fortunes. Rancho is a wealthy genius who studies for the sheer joy of it. However, Rancho's passion is for knowledge and taking apart and building machines rather than the conventional obsession of the other students with exam ranks. With his different approach Rancho incurs the wrath of dean of college, Professor Viru Sahastrabudhhe (ViruS) (Boman Irani). Rancho irritates his lecturers by giving creative and unorthodox answers, and confronts ViruS after fellow student Joy Lobo hangs himself in his dormitory room. Joy had requested an extension on his major project on compassionate groundshis father had suffered a strokebut ViruS refused, saying that he himself was completely unmoved by his own son's accidental death after being hit by a train. Rancho denounces the rat race, dog-eat-dog, mindless rote learning mentality of the institution, blaming it for Lobo's death.
Their story is framed as intermittent flashbacks from the present day, ten years after Chatur vowed revenge on Rancho for embarrassing him at the speech night and promised to become more successful than Rancho a decade later. Having lost contact with Rancho, who disappeared during the graduation party and went into seclusion, Raju and Farhan begin a journey to find him. They are joined by Chatur, now a wealthy and successful businessman, who joins them, brazenly confident that he has surpassed Rancho. Chatur is also looking to seal a deal with a famous scientist and prospective business associate named Phunsukh Wangdu. Chatur sees Wangdu, who has hundreds of patents, as his ticket to further social prestige. When they find Rancho's house, they walk into his father's funeral, and find a completely different Rancho Jaaved Jaffrey. After accusing the new man of stealing their friend's identity and profiting from his intellect, the host pulls a gun on them, but Farhan and Raju turn the tables by seizing the father's ashes and threatening to flush them down the toilet. The householder capitulates and says that their friend was a destitute servant boy who loved learning, while he, the real Rancho, was a lazy wealthy child who disliked study, so the family agreed to let the servant boy study in Rancho's place instead of labouring. In return, the real Rancho would pocket the qualifications and the benefits thereof, while the impersonator would sever all contact with the world and start a new life. The real Rancho reveals that his impersonator is now a schoolteacher in Ladakh.
